Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer in the D&DC Land Systems team, you will be responsible for the complete software development life cycle (SDLC) of embedded and real-time systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Software Design & Implementation: Write clean, efficient, and highly reliable code in C and C++ for complex software systems.
- RTOS & OS Management: Work extensively with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) like VxWorks and QNX, as well as standard Linux environments.
- Multi-Threaded Programming: Design and implement software architectures operating in multi-thread and multi-process environments, ensuring proper synchronization and resource allocation.
- Diagnostics & Testing: Develop built-in diagnostics (BIT) and test codes to verify system reliability, supportability, and fault tolerance.
- Hardware Communication: Implement communication protocols over physical layers such as Serial, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, NMEA, and ModBus to interface with various hardware subsystems.
- Root Cause Analysis: Analyze system scalability, identify interworking issues, and perform root cause analysis for complex system-level bugs.
- Collaboration & Support: Participate in debugging sessions, support customer sites during deployment, and use tools like Jira for project tracking and issue management.
